How to Track Your Fleet and Equipment with FieldFix
Know where your trucks are, when equipment needs service, and never miss maintenance again.
What You'll Need
- A smartphone (iPhone or Android)
- Vehicles or equipment you want to track
- Basic info about your equipment (make, model, hours/miles)
Steps
1
Sign up for FieldFix
Create your free account at fieldfix.ai
- Go to fieldfix.ai on your phone or computer
- Click 'Get Started' or 'Sign Up'
- Enter your email and create a password
- Verify your email to activate your account
Tip: FieldFix is built specifically for contractors and field service businesses — it's not just a generic tracker.
2
Add your first vehicle or equipment
Start with your most important vehicle.
- Click 'Add Equipment' or the + button
- Enter: Name (e.g., 'Work Truck 1'), type, make, model, year
- Add current mileage or engine hours
- Upload a photo if you want (makes it easy to identify)
3
Set up maintenance schedules
Tell FieldFix when things need service so it can remind you.
- Click on your equipment, then 'Maintenance Schedule'
- Add common items: oil change (every 5k miles), filter replacement, tire rotation
- For equipment: teeth replacement, hydraulic service, belt inspection
- Set the interval (miles, hours, or time)
Tip: Start with the expensive stuff — the maintenance that prevents $5,000 repairs.
4
Enable location tracking (optional)
Know where your vehicles are in real-time.
- Install the FieldFix app on phones that stay in vehicles
- Enable location permissions when asked
- Or purchase a GPS tracker device for always-on tracking
- View all vehicles on the map in your dashboard
5
Log your first maintenance
Start building your service history.
- When you do maintenance, open FieldFix
- Tap the equipment, then 'Log Service'
- Enter what was done, cost, and current miles/hours
- Take a photo of the receipt — it's stored with the record
You're Done!
You're now tracking your fleet! You'll get reminders before maintenance is due and have records when it's time to sell.
Pro Tips
- • Track equipment hours, not just miles — a mulcher with 500 hours needs different care than one with 50
- • Use FieldFix records when selling equipment — documented maintenance adds resale value
- • Set reminders a week BEFORE service is due so you can schedule it
