How to Create and Send Invoices with Wave

Free invoicing software that looks professional and lets customers pay online.

Create a Wave account

Go to waveapps.com and sign up for free.

  • Click 'Sign Up'
  • Enter your email and create a password
  • Enter your business name
  • Choose your business type and industry

Add your business info

This shows up on every invoice you send.

  • Go to 'Settings' then 'Business Profile'
  • Add your business address
  • Upload your logo (optional but looks professional)
  • Add your phone number
Tip: A logo makes your invoices look way more legitimate. Even a simple one works.

Set up your services

Create templates for the things you charge for.

  • Go to 'Sales' then 'Products & Services'
  • Click 'Add a Product or Service'
  • Enter a name like 'Mulching Service' or 'HVAC Repair'
  • Set a default price (you can change it per invoice)

Enable online payments

Let customers pay by credit card right from the invoice.

  • Go to 'Settings' then 'Payments'
  • Click 'Set up payments'
  • Connect your bank account
  • Choose to accept credit cards (2.9% fee)
Tip: Customers pay 2x faster when they can pay online. Worth the small fee.

Create your first invoice

Time to get paid!

  • Click 'Sales' then 'Invoices'
  • Click 'Create Invoice'
  • Add your customer's name and email
  • Add the services and amounts
  • Click 'Send' — done!

You're Done!

Your customer just got a professional invoice with a 'Pay Now' button! You'll get notified when they pay.
